Our Travel Bucket List

Updated: Aug 21, 2021

Before we dive into some of our pre existing travel experiences, we thought it would be fun to first share our bucket list travel locations.

Welcome! Bucket Lists are different for every person. Your bucket list should be created specifically for you using a criteria that meets your specific style. Some people people are thriller seekers, some are foodies, and some are photographers. Your bucket list won't look exactly like ours and that is okay we hope this post opens your eyes to more of the worlds beauty and maybe you'll want to add some of our choices to your list too!

Emma & Hunter's Travel Bucket list

We, like lots of people would love to see most ever inch of this earth. But for the purpose of this #travel bucket list we have decided to narrow our list to 10 destinations. In no particular order here is our travel bucket list!

1. Lake Louise Alberta, Canada

This beautiful glacier fed lake is located near the border of Alberta and British Columbia. It is about an hrs drive from the awesome town of Banff, Alberta. Lake Louise makes for a perfect day trip from Banff. There are many lookout points situated around the lake so you can get that perfect photo! If you're looking for something more adventurous there is a hiking trail that runs around the lake (Lake Louise lakeshore trail). For people looking to get even more up close and personal there are various canoe and kayak rental areas around the lake! Just be sure to look if reservations are required! This lake is on our bucket list for many reasons other than its sheer beauty. Being located close to Banff means that we would have many other cool things to see and do around the area making it a perfect weekend destination or a couple day stop on a road trip. We have also never been to Alberta (Hunter has but not with Emma) and this destination would help us get one step closer to our goal of visiting every Canadian province!

2. Blue Lagoon, Iceland

Iceland is a relatively unknown travel destination but with a geothermal seawater lagoon like this, and many other beautiful spots around the country it soon will be a must see destination. The lagoons water comes from two thousand metres below the surface of the earth, which is why the water is warm and does not freeze. This lagoon is located on a hotel and spa perfect for a relaxing get away. The spa itself is only a 50min drive from Icelands capital city Reykavik. Iceland's ringed road (road the encircles the country) is 1,333km long, meaning that the entire island could be driven in 12hrs. Perfect for a week trip and the lagoon would be the perfect spot to end with. This destination is on our bucket list for that exact reason. About 7 years ago Hunter had a flight from Toronto to Stockholm that stopped in Reykavik and ever since then he wanted to return because of the amazing views from the airport! After discovering the Blue Lagoon Emma is now too hooked on Iceland!

3. Bonneville Salt Flats Utah, USA

This geological wonder was formed when the ancient Lake Bonneville dried up, as the water began to evaporate salt deposits were left in place. The flats cover an area of about about 46 square miles! Located about 1 hr 45min from Salt Lake City in Utah's north west corner the salt flats are a must see location (in our opinion of course)! There is plenty to explore and and if you time it right you might be able to check out Bonneville Speedway where speeds reach up to 450mph! Bonneville is on our bucket list because it is so unique. The salt flats would make for a perfect addition to someone visiting the amazing national parks in Utah!

4. Acadia National Park Maine, USA

Acadia is a 47,000 acre National Park located on Mount Desert Island. The national park boasts the highest peak on the east coast (Cadillac Mountain), not to mention breath taking views of surrounding lakes and the Pacific Ocean. The park is a 1,2 and 3 hr drive respectively from the cities of Bangor,Augusta (Capital city of Maine), and Portland. It is on our bucket list because we love the beauty that Maine has to offer and the park gives off a west coast feel with the convenience (for us) of being located on the east coast. We also love National Parks and what they have to offer and we would love to visit as many as possible!

5. Alaska, USA

We do not have a specific location in Alaska that we want to see as of right now. What drives us to want to visit this state is the untouched, remote, and vast landscape that Alaska has to offer. Alaska is one of those places that you almost have to see twice to full appreciate what is has to offer. During the dark months of August-April the Northern Lights are most spectacular. Contrary to that May-August Alaska offers its Midnight Sun, where it seems no matter what time of day the sun is always in the sky. Alaska is on our bucket list because of its beauty, there is something about a "never setting sun" that we want to experience, as well as the majestic Northern Lights makes Alaska a must see destination for us.

6. United Kingdom (Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England)

The United Kingdom has something to offer for everyone. From the city life in London, to the rolling hills of Ireland, the castles of Scotland, and of course ocean views from all over. The history of the UK is seen through out the area with its cobble stones roads and castles perched up on the hills. It's not hard to imagine why we want to go so badly! A great thing about the UK is that the islands are small, making it realistic to be able to drive the entire UK in a weeks trip. The UK is on our bucket list for lots of reasons, some of the more specific reasons are that both our families are from the UK (Ireland & Scotland) and we want to get in touch with our families history, Hunter has friends who live there, of course the beautiful scenery, and last but not least Hunter wants to see and hopefully play St Andrews Golf Course in Scotland.

7. Australia

Most people have seen the stunning photos of costal Australia and the iconic Sydney Oprah House. This vast country has amazing diversity from the outback pictured above to the white sandy beaches. There are so many things to see and do, you could spend your entire life exploring this country and you still might need more time! They have some amazing cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns, and Perth. Plus some of the worlds most diverse eco systems with animals only found on the island. Not to mention the Great Barrier Reef and world renowned beaches like Bondi! Australia is on our bucket list because we have had friends who visited and could not say enough good things about it. Its also just been one of those place that both of us have always wanted to see. With our love of road trips Australia would make for one epic adventure!

8. Quittinirpaaq National Park Nunavut, Canada

This bye far is the least known destination on our list and it makes sense why. Quittinirpaaq is located on the northern most island in Canada! Only about 700km from the North Pole! This park is only accessible in certain parts of the year due to inclement weather. Don't let scare you though as in the summer months the park has rangers stationed at the park to assist you. If you are an outdoors man this park is for you, as you can pitch your tent anywhere in the park! The park offers amazing views of mountain tops, ancient rivers and the wildlife that calls Nunavut home. This destination is on our bucket list because of the freedom the park gives you, as well as feeling like you're on top of the world (because you kind of are)!

9. Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

The Serengeti National Park is one of the premier places in all of Africa to get to see wildlife up close! A guided safari tour is the best way to go about seeing all the park has to offer. The park is located in north eastern Tanzania, right next to Lake Victoria ( 3rd largest lake in the world) and only 230km from Nairobi, Kenya. This park is on our bucket list because we want to experience an African safari and this is one of the best places in the world to do so. Being up close to such wonderful creatures would be an other worldly experience! There is nothing else on earth like the African Savanna.

10. The Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

The Galapagos Islands, made famous by Charles Darwin and his theory of evolution, is home to diverse plant and animal species that for the most part are only found within the archipelago. If you love animals this is a must see destination, the islands are home to some of the most endangered species in the world. Don't worry the parks commission makes sure that all human visitations are safe and have no harm to the environment. A lot of the boats used to travel from island to island are completely environmentally safe! The beauty of the waters and surrounding islands also make it a very desirable destination. The island is on our bucket list because we are animal lovers, and once we found out that our presence does not harm the plant and animal species we knew we had to add it to our list.

We hope you enjoyed reading about our #travel destinations bucket list! Feel free to message us and share some of your bucket list destinations! We are always open to learning more about our beautiful world!
